SPORTS FUNDING STATEMENT
P.E AND SPORTS GRANT
In 2013, the Government introduced additional funding for improved provision for Physical Education in primary schools. The funding has continued to come into school and is ring-fenced purely for improving sporting provision.
Here at Haslington, we want our children to receive the very best Physical Education (PE) in our school and have already raised funds to improve our Trim Trail and Friends of Haslington Primary School raised money for an outdoor gym. Active 5 runs throughout the day in classrooms and the children all walk the daily mile.
We have our own sports coach who is funded through the additional funding to improve sport provision to support and improve:
- Behaviour at lunchtime
- Active lunchtimes with clearly defined areas to play
- Rotating around the gym to improve physical fitness
- Delegating tasks and organising supervision outside
- Running more clubs after school to encourage more active lifestyles, alongside the PE lead
- Working with playground leaders
- Assessing the children’s PE skills and fitness
- Reporting the children’s improvements on the website
- Encouraging the children to thrive and reach their full potential
- Entering more competitions, encouraging children to feel good about their sporting achievements
- Positive mental attitudes to support the emotional well-being of all pupils
- A stress release stress through fun activities
- Introducing a wider range of sports throughout the school
- Enabling staff in school to further improve their CPD in PE, to improve their own lessons
- Focusing on key areas and identifying potential skills in children with a natural ability
Our PE lead monitors all the activities and ensures quality assurance.
