ATTENDANCE GUIDANCE
PENALTY NOTICES FOR TERM TIME HOLIDAYS
Cheshire East Council has reviewed Penalty Notices for term time holiday absences, in-line with the Government Guidelines. The Headteacher has to look at all holiday requests with representatives from the Governing Body. There are strict guidelines that we have to follow. Our school has regular audits on school attendance and we have to provide proof of why we have authorised certain holidays. There are many factors that are taken into consideration, e.g. your child’s attendance, how many holidays they may have had throughout the year.
PUNCTUALITY
School begins at 8.45 am and all pupils are expected to be in school for registration at this time. Gates close at 8.55 am and we ask Parents/Carer to accompany late children to the office where a reason for lateness and the number of minutes late, will be recorded on to their child’s attendance file.
If you are experiencing difficulties in getting your child to school please talk to your child’s Class Teacher. We have to call home if no call is made to school or the Headteacher visits the home to establish where the child is. We have to safeguard our pupils and follow our Children Missing from Education Policy.
*Pupils who are consistently late are disrupting not only their own education but also that of others. Where persistent lateness gives cause for concern further action will be taken.
MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS
Please try to make any medical appointments outside of school hours. If this is unavoidable then we do ask for your child to attend the morning or afternoon session in school before or after the appointment. Medical appointments will only be authorised if you are able to provide a letter from the hospital/clinic or doctors (appointment card) showing the appointment details.
REPORTING ABSENCES
If your child is medically unfit to attend school we ask Parents/Carers to inform the school by 9am on the first day of absence and everyday thereafter. The School’s telephone number is 01270 581327.
Request for Authorised Term-time Leave of Absence [Holidays in term time]
AUTHORISED ABSENCE IN TERM-TIME REQUEST
Parents and carers are advised the headteacher will not authorise any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. The headteacher will determine the number of school days a child can be away from school if leave is granted due to exceptional circumstances. The school will consider each case individually. The school will not authorise leave of absence during any examination or assessment periods. Please find out absence request form below, this must be handed into the school office for consideration.
If your child has to be away from school during term time, you will need to complete a form for authorisation to be considered.
Unauthorised absences are reported to our Education Welfare Officer. Parents/Carers should be aware that a fixed penalty notice for non-attendance may be issued and will incur a fine of £60 per child per adult if paid within 21 days; or £120 if paid within 28 days. If after 28 days the fixed penalty fine has not been paid you will be summons to appear before the Magistrates’ Court on the grounds you have failed to secure your child’s regular attendance.
