2022-2023 PHONICS RESULTS

91% of our 2021-2022 Year 2 pupils are working at the expected phonics standard this year, compared to 81% nationally. Higher than National in 2019. Due to Covid, our Year 2 pupils took their Phonics Screening Checks in Year 2.

80% of our 2021-2022 Year 1 pupils are working at the expected phonics standard this year, compared to 81% nationally. Slightly lower than National in 2019.

Phonics is taught through the Read, Write, Inc Phonics programme across Key Stage 1.

Phonics sounds are hard to learn, however, you as parents can really support with this by practising your child’s sounds each night and during the week, spotting them in books and other fun activities.
