YEAR 6
MISS BARKER
This is Miss Barker’s second year at Haslington Primary school although has been teaching for the past 9 years. Miss Barker is a passionate and enthusiastic teacher who ensures that all the children that she teaches become the best that they can be. Miss Barker’s favourite subjects are PSHRE, History and Maths. She believes that maths is one of the building blocks in life, in everything that we all do, she always strives to makes these lessons fun and engaging for all!
Miss Barker is our Computing and the joint Maths lead.
Supporting the class this year, is the lovely Mrs Heeks and Mrs Witter. Mrs Heeks has worked at Haslington for many years and really enjoys supporting all the children in their work. She works both with small groups and sometimes teaches us different subjects in the afternoon.
Mrs Witter has been with our class for nearly a year now, she loves helping the children in all lessons and particularly enjoys History, Geography and Art. Mrs Witter is extremely passionate about ensuring all children meet their full potential and works both in small groups and a 1:1 basis.
CURRICULUM INFORMATION

HOMEWORK
In Year 6, children will bring home weekly Maths homework. The children will be given questions to recap on previous learning in class. If they complete their maths each week, they will receive an extra smiley.
Children will also be expected to read at home five times a week and complete two reading activities in their reading journals. Doing both of these will earn them 2 extra smileys.
During the half term holidays, children will be set half term projects to complete, based on their learning in class. Completing this will earn the children up to 3 smileys each. In the summer, our holiday homework usually consists of a Maths, English and topic based activity. For each activity
